moving

We are moving Thursday, so I may not be around much this week. The Miranda July movie, The Future (see below post) was wonderful as expected.  I cried through a lot of it, which was kind of unexpected, though not as much as I cried during My Idiot Brother - really! it is kind of depressing... have you see it?

the future

Ever since I heard about it's making, I have eagerly awaited the release of The Future. Kai and I are having Friday date (and moving box collecting) night and guess what we get to see in the theater!! I am almost as excited about this movie as I am about the future (sorry, I had too) house and studio we will be in next Thursday. Have a fun weekend! xo

Reality Bites

Though it doesn't get the greatest rating on IMDB, Reality Bites will always be one of my favorite movies. I watched it over and over again in junior high until my video tape wouldn't play anymore, and I am pretty sure I had a whole scrap book dedicated to Ethan Hawke, although it might have been shared with My So Called Life's Jared Leto. Last night I convinced Kai to watch it once again, and it definitely held up! Oh how I wish I could rock Winona Ryder's sweet 90's haircut.

Suspiria

Beautiful stills from the 1977 Dario Argento film. I want to make paintings like these!

Mirandas!

Yesterday we painted our bedroom a pale gray, covering up the strange mustard color we both thought was a good idea last year.  We also hung a bunch of new art, and realized we had some holes to fill in- YES! I purchased the two paintings above from Jeremy Miranda. I have been drooling over his work for so long, and can't wait to see these in person.

And in other super awesome Miranda news, have you heard about Miranda July's new movie, The Future? I am pretty excited, since Me You and Everyone We Know is one of my favorite movies of all time.

In the Cut

Last night after a delicious dinner, we sat down and watched Jane Campion's In the Cut, a disturbingly scary and sexy thriller from 2003 starring Meg Ryan and Mark Ruffalo with a big mustache. Jane Campion is one of my favorite directors, and Mark Ruffalo is one of my future husbands (sorry Kai).  I will say nothing more than we both needed several shots of whiskey during the last ten minutes of the movie, and after it ended I had very shaky knees.

Viaggio con Anita

Though it doesn't appear to have gotten very good reviews, after seeing this photo, I really want to watch this Goldie Hawn movie from 1979 to find out what's going on with the squishy kitten.
