two more springy paintings

Spring is on my mind. I eagerly await warmth and sunny days, and continually fantasize about tropical vacations on far off islands (this is driving Kai crazy because he's working on three gallery shows, and I keep distracting him with ideas of fun and leisure which will never be...at least not for a while).

Above, Spring Dress and Navy & Yellow, both 5 x 7 inches, acrylic on watercolor paper.

and happy spring...even though it's cold here!

happy tuesday! and two new little paintings

Today was a good day. It has been cold and gloomy here, and everyone I've corresponded with on Etsy in other parts of the country says it is warm and summer like. California...what's wrong with you! But despite the gloom, today was a fun and productive work day. I contacted a photographer in Spain named Ines, whose photos I used a while back for painting reference, and we started chatting about life, and not getting enough exercise. Being able to connect with people around the world is amazing and very exciting...especially for me, since I have a hard time even leaving the house/studio unless I absolutely have to.

Check out Ines' beautiful and inspiring work here.
And the two paintings above are Calm and Swirl, both 6 x 8 inches, acrylic on watercolor paper.

two new paintings

I have been missing from this blog for a while now...because I have been super busy painting. While most of the paintings underway are commissions, I am slowly working on a series of my own, which I hope will eventually move in a new direction- depicting spaces and environments and focusing less on figures.  These two are Loose Threads, and Failed Seams, both 12 x 12 inches, acrylic on wood panel.

new painting

I finally finished one of the paintings I've been working on for months! With the Tide, 24 x 18 inches, acrylic on wood panel. Available here.
There are a few companion paintings in the works, depicting similar environments, which should be finished in the upcoming weeks, after I am done with my current group of commissions.

a few things

When I am not painting furiously, like right now during my fifteen minute or so break, I pour over all the beautiful things I hope to one day acquire from Etsy land...Student, watercolor painting ... knitted sweater ... Side by Side Ring ...so many more. I really need to start adding some zeros to my sad artist's bank account.

My Love, 13 x 19 print

My Love, 13 x 19 print available in my shop. The original painting is still available, and I will list it as soon as I finish the series I'm working on now...hopefully soon...I have been working on these paintings for what seems like forever...sheesh.

Happy New Year

Hope everyone had a fun New Year's Eve. We spent today recovering on the river (this is actually a photo from a couple weeks ago...today was so windy we almost capsized). Our big, old clunker of a canoe has a little motor which goes just about as fast as if we were actually paddling. It is pure luxury!
