is summer really over already?
I am a pessimist, and as I kid I was thoroughly depressed about summer ending by mid July. Around this time I would have resigned myself to the horror of ever present back to school paraphernalia lining store shelves and plastering the covers of magazines and catalogs (catalogs are the worst- they like to remind you summer is ending as soon as it has begun)! Hopefully I will never have to go back to school again except in my nightmares, so the preemptive fall makes me a little less bummed out each year, the older I get. And who doesn't love fall, with it's leaves and warm fuzzy things?

finished commission
Just finished this 2 x 3 foot commission on wood panel for the lovely Ellen of her two daughters...she wanted something with a similar feel to this one. Sadly the photo is a little blown out, and doesn't show all the greeny blues in the water.

Have a fun weekend!
I just impulsively bought this adorable tank top from Mammal & Lamb after seeing it in Noƫlle's favorites. I made it a little more than a month (the longest I've gone in the last two years) since my last Etsy purchase, and was having serious withdrawals. Plus I know even if I don't wear this little gem of a shirt, Esther, my sister from another mother, will look super cute in it.
Have a fun weekend everybody! Time for me to get more painting done.

pretty lips
I am procrastinating and eating a pb&j sandwich right now. Aren't these lips pretty! Dark Red Lip Gloss and Stain by Mojo Spa
camping trip photos
Some blurry iphone photos from our trip. We got super nerdy on day three...I discovered whittling, my new favorite past time, and our friend Marcos fashioned a bow and arrows which he lost repeatedly to the poison oak surrounding us.

i'm back from the woods!
Back from a kinda fun camping trip. I brought home a deer tick in my hair, and Kai got a tiny bit of poison oak as a souvenir from our time in the forest in Mendocino. I think I am done with camping for a while. My next vacation will be tick free and must include showers! Maybe I will share a couple photos from the woods later today after I get some painting done.

pink and blue
Sorry for the weirdly aligned images. I really need to learn Photoshop. So, it's Monday yet again, and here are a few things I have my eyes on. Lip Tint Hoarder Pack for only $20, you belong in my tiny purse! These sweet vintage 40s Sailor's Gal heels at a size 6.5-7 are sadly a bit too small for me, but what about you? I definitely wouldn't mind owning this totally fun, Vintage Tropical Fern Crinkled Swimsuit. And this stunning Peach Champagne Sapphire and Diamond in 14k rose gold ring would sure make my bare and bony fingers happy.

Have a fun weekend!
Hope you guys have a great weekend...any fun plans?? We are going to an opening for a group art show Kai is participating in at Quicksilver Mine Co., and then having a big old bbq, probably accompanied by more Jamaicaritas!

cactus green
Kai bbq'd delicious nopales the other day, and I have been hung up on cacti ever since. Though this wouldn't be the time of the year to do it, a trip to the desert sure sounds like fun.

escape
Today is one of those days where everything seems a bit wrong. I keep tripping over cords and bumping into things, and messing stuff up in general. I wish I could escape to another place and time, and be someone else just for today. 1920s Set of Two Vintage Prints from Banana Strudel, Black Cat Print Dress by Leah Goren, Bamboo & Lycra Chiffon Black 'Thalia' Cropped Cami by Hopeless, Vintage Blackstrap Wood Platforms from Dear Golden

Jamaicarita
This is how we spent the 4th of July, and the 3rd too...and maybe the 2nd. Drinking Jamaicaritas, which I thought I invented, but apparently did not. Delicious and dangerous. Here is one recipe. We lined the rims of our glasses with ancho chile powder and sea salt (I licked most of it off by the time of this photo). Yum! Making home made Jamaica is great because you can control the amount of sugar. I prefer it a little tart.
If you have never had or heard of Jamaica, it is a sweet hibiscus tea available at most Mexican restaurants, especially fast food places, where you see it dispensed in those big plastic containers next to the equally delicious, Horchata. It has a really unique flavor, and Kai and I love it!!
Also pictured are Trader Joe's wasabi almonds. It might seem like a weird combination, but after a couple Jamaicaritas anything goes.
